Neighbors also noted that Garrido had a penchant for wandering the neighborhood distributing religious tracts and quoting Bible verse, she said.

Yuk, I hope not.
I can't understand why he brought her to the police station. He could have made up some excuse why the kids were there. Neice with children visiting, etc... In one story, it says one girl was hanging on to him, with blank eyes.
Blank eyes, are very common in foster children, who have been molested.
There are holding both husband and wife, but only really talk about him. The wife is sooo guilty also.

He is not a dub. I saw that same quote in an earlier news story and wondered the same thing. But further research shows he had his own religion and created tracts to dispense. He was a believer in mind control and heard voices that he felt he could interpret.
In fact, it was his religious zeal that tripped him up. When he went onto the Berkeley campus to distribute tracts, a campus police woman told him he needed a permit. Apparently he gave her enough information for a permit that she was able to run the standard background check, which led her his parolee status. She contacted the parole office - perhaps because he had two young girls with him - and that's how he got the phone call the next day to come in to see his parole officer.
Why he brought everyone with him to the parole office meeting is unclear; we may find out in later reports.

I'm still looking but I haven't seen anything that says he is a jw, just a deranged religious fanatic which is not unusual to find around the UC Berkeley campus.

After further searching I found information that although he's crazy, he's not a dub. I found this article with his blog:

I have quickly read the links to his writings, and I was surprised to see that his writings have a good vocabulary, well written. He quotes Jeremiah and 2Corinthians12 and he quotes from a modern version. I checked to see that they are not from the NWT translation.
He still could be on the periphery of the JW organisation.
Many years ago, when I was "congregation servant" I became aware of a regular publisher who heard voices and had some strange ideas. Most in the congregation did not know that. I know of another that used to sit on a sloped house roof and stare into the sun.
Jehovah's Witnesses visit people in prisons.
JWs go to university campuses to "distribute literature." Authorities are reluctant to say which religion is distributing pamphlets.
JWs take children "out in the service"
So I feel that we should continue to watch the results of this story. We should study his writings to see if there is JW vocabulary or any indication of association with other religions. If it is proved later that he had no contact with JWs, well and good.
