Beards & moustaches, hairlength, pastel dress shirts, wide ties, 2 door autos, playing chess, watching competitive sports, buying second hand furniture or clothing, kissing the hairline crack, using aluminum cookware, not believing in chiropractic treatments, reading novels, going to R rated movies...etc. I saw all of these unwritten, unscriptural mandates embraced by congregations over the years. "No soup for you!"
Beard stories. Nothing but beards.

I remember having a talk in the school one night, and not shaving. It was barely noticeable, but the school overseer counselled me afterwards...
haha...that jogs my memory.
A friend of mine, who had a heavy beard, got sent home from the Saturday morning field service meeting because he had a 5 o'clock shadow...at 9 in the morning. The elder leading the group refused to let him go out unless he went home and shaved closer.

Those who are relating their "anti-beard" experiences are not talking horse shit.
Unfortunately there are inconsistencies in JWdubdom, and it does vary from country to country and congo to congo.
Which just goes to show how the borg is actually promoting local dictatorships by demanding unquestioning obedience to the elduhs.
They demand it, and get it too unfortunately.

I have a friend that no longer attends meetings. He got tired of running into JW's approaching him saying how much they missed seeing him at meetings.
So, he shaved his head and grew a beard.........he said now when he is out ......they don't bother him anymore! It's great!

I knew an older brother in the Thursday Island congregation with a beard. They refused to make him a MS because of it.
My father has a moustache even though he is a CO; I think it is his way of being a little bit rebellious.
The thing about beards is that they are now acceptable business attire. The same goes for wearing suits without ties or even jeans. I work for a global software company and we do business presentations where our country manager wears jeans and half the sales staff have short trimmed beards from time to time. The Watchtower restrictions on dress and grooming are left over from a bygone century and need to be updated.

I understand there is a "New Arrangement" that will allow servants to grow facial hair for a small stipend paid monthly.
