Even science agrees that all mankind comes from one man.

    *raises hand*

Doesn't science suggest that we originated from one woman, not one man - the "mitochondrial Eve" hypothesis?

Anyways, this is still hotly debated too, there is only partial support.

ok I'm wrong forgive my ignorance and the tens of thousands of scientists whose studies differ from yourself.

That's a big red herring argument, BG, I was asking about the flood. The bible clearly has a chronology that situates this global (or regional) catastrophe somewhere around 4000 years ago (go look it up on your WT CD-ROM if you don't believe me). As others have stated, if the flood were localized to the middle east then that means natives from the Americas were spared the destruction because there is rock-solid evidence they've been in North America for at least 15,000 years and there are sites in South America that date back even further.

I can sense some form of conflict in your answer, though, because you're clearly not toeing the WT party line when it comes to the Flood. As recently as last year they had a Question from Readers re-affirming their stance that the Flood was indeed earth-wide in scope. You and I both know that this is scientifically impossible, thus your suggestion of a localized flood.

If you pull out one piece of the bible that doesn't fit, the rest comes crumbling down in terms of divine inspiration. I have a great admiration for the bible as a work of literature, however. The fact that I don't view it as inspired by god doesn't take away from its significance in Western history or the beauty of some of its passages.

Bluegrass, the mountains that you refer to and some others have fossilized seashells because at one time they were under a normal unflooded ocean and gradually came to be uplifted with the ocean being drained. If however there were to be a massive flood reaching up and over mountains in Turkey then the flood waters would have swirled around the mountains reaching much further out.

As far as the DNA being traced to one man that is a speciation event where a member(s) of a clan tribe or population has a mutant gene that differentiates him/her from the rest of the group and allows him/her to out reproduce the rest in due time. In essence, there is no such thing as a single man/woman event since there are always males and females of a "less evolved" type about to be replaced in the millenia that follow.

I suggest getting the book Science and Earth History by Arthur Strahler. It is specifically geared toward responding to Creationist beliefs and statements. At five hundred large size pages in fine print it is the most thorough book on the issues.

Bluegrass, one more thing I forgot. You said that if the NorthPole and South Pole were to melt it would flood the earth. You really need to do some very basic research on several subjects. The fact is, based on measurements of the South Poles and Greenland that ocean levels would rise about 260 feet which in no way would flood the earth. The North Pole melting-and surveillance satellites have shown that the North Pole has been melting rapidly-will have no affect on sea levels since it already floats on water.

The Flood did happen. And the end will come in 2012. And MJ is still ALIVE. 9/11 was not an inside job.

It's obvious that the only science blue grass will accept as fact is that which agrees with his preconceived ideas. This is the same person who accuses others, on a different thread, of closing their minds.
