I am not convinced that this sort of behaviour is totally unrelated to being a JW.
They teach that all non-JWs are immoral and promiscuous. All non-JWs are dirty and worthless and Jehovah is going to kill them all soon.
Can anyone else see how that would contribute to the sort of deceitful abusive behaviour described in this thread?

This really happened to me. It is awful and painful and a heartbreak. It's so sad.

What a creep! Be glad you're rid of him before more feelings were invested. If I were you, seeing as you're not baptised, go to his elders and tell them everything! They can't punish you. He should be made accountable for his actions.
