Revolver is my favorite Fab Four album, though there isn't a bad one in the bunch. I agree that's the one to point virgin Beatle listeners too, but at the same time, you really need to experience the early sound to understand the evolution of their sound, style and lyrical content.

I've ordered the Rock Band 'cause I know they'd sell out at the store before I even got in line. Can't wait to try some of the bass lines and drum styles.

My fav Beatle growing up was Lennon but as I got older, I came to appreciate George more and more, to the point of he's equal to Lennon anymore. Not to displace Paul...he was a genius. Actually we were talking about this the other day. It did take all four. No one Beatle was above the group. Even Ringo's distinctive sytle on drum was a key part of the sound. And each of them had a unique personality that brought them the attention they got. Lennon's wry wit offset Paul's too cutesyness. George was the quiet, introspective guy who could write a song as well as the two brash guys and good ole goofy Ringo reminded them that it was all good, let's have fun.

    Indeed!

You can hear and fully appreciate the genius when you're familiar with the beginnings of it all.

Maybe "Beast of Burden" as a bonus track?

    Gosh, I love them all.

I too love Revolver, and think it's my #1, with Sgt. Pepper, Rubber Soul, White, Abbey Road just a half a step behind.

I like Sgt. Pepper's cuz it's so polished with everything but the kitchen sink thrown in. Then again, I like the White Album cuz it's so stripped down and raw. It's all good.

Haven't heard it yet but am curious. I'm sure there's a bit more sparkle to the mixes.

Dear Prudence is a fav, among too many to name.

    Another fan here.

I must get Revolver. A relative had a copy I used to borrow but I wonder if it was one of the victims of a clear-out he had ...

Love the Sgt. Pepper album, love Rubber Soul - 'In My Life' and 'Norwegian Wood' are the best of an already strong album. Love anything George did with the sitar. Too many great songs to mention.

I don't have any Beatles on vinyl, but there is definitely something about listening to classic albums on vinyl - and providing the amp and speakers are good quality, the sound is excellent.

(Hey, if there's a certain 'apostate' guy out there reading this who remembers, a long, long time ago, lending a teenaged girl a ton of Beatles tapes, and who particularly liked 'Across the Universe,' PM me.)

For me, the more psychedelic the better. That's why the first Beatles album I bought on CD years ago was "Magical Mystery Tour".

It often gets berated as a tired version of Sgt. Pepper but look what's on that album: "Penny Lane", "I Am The Walrus", "Strawberry Fields", "All You Need Is Love", "Baby You're A Rich Man", "Hello Goodbye", "Blue Jay Way", "Flying", and "Your Mother Should Know".

Although, to be honest, I have never cared for "The Fool On The Hill".

It might be interesting to start a thread on which Beatles song does not do it for you.
