Thank you, everyone. I spoke with Jesse this afternoon. He did have his surgery, under general anesthesia, which scared him because he had never been under. The surgeon cleaned up some of the tissue, drained everything and did not have to amputate his finger or worse. We are still waiting for word on the kind of infection. They are giving Jesse morphine. He says it's the worst pain he's ever felt. They were going to be taking Jesse to bathe his arm and hand in a whirlpool and to change his bandanges. He sounded tired, but fairly good considering.
I hope to speak with him again before he goes to bed. I know the doctors are taking steps to keep the infection under control and to keep it from becoming systemic. He told my daughter that this just makes him want to take even better care of his health. The cut on his finger was not a large cut. I am wondering if this is that staph that is so hard to treat.
