If you have to choose one Book or Letter of the NT that best describes what it is to be a Christian, which one would you choose?

If you perfer to choose a chapter and verse, that is cool too !

Of course if you feel that more than one is needed, who am I to argue ?

The Golden Rule! "Do to others what you want done to you."

Edited to add- actually, that's how Christians should act.

1 Corinthians 13 - the most sublime portrait of love that ever was!

    Also, this gem from Philippians:

Philippians 3:7 -9 The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I'm tearing up and throwing out with the trash—along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant—dog dung. I've dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him. I didn't want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting ChristGod's righteousness.

10 -11 I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself. If there was any way to get in on the resurrection from the dead, I wanted to do it.

    What a great thread, PSac.

I do love 1Corinthians 13, its beautiful in its simplicity and is 100% on the button, one of the best descriptions of Love.

Its so hard to choose, but if I had to choose a Gosple, it would be John, a letter it would be 1John.

    As for verses:

I always though that Matthew 5:46-48 and Matthew 25:34-46, summed up "christian works" quite nicely.

1John 4:15-16 also is one I am fond of.

One half of one verse (the first half) is all anyone, Christian or not, needs:

    1 Thessalonians 4:11

You knew I was going there, didn't you?

It's my favorite scripture. It's perfect for all situations. I wish I had used it more back when I was a dub.

Imagine any dub asking you a nosy question and you tell em to look up 1 thess 4:11 for their answer...
