I use tools on a small scale (Dremel set, pliers. wire cutters, files), mostly for making jewelry. I'm pretty good with knitting needles, too. I keep a Leatherman multi-purpose tool in my purse. It's come in handy many times.

As for house maintenance, I can change lightbulbs, unblock a toilet, and hang pictures and curtains. Everything else is done by my husband. He's got a wood shop in the garage. I'm afraid to touch that equipment even when it's turned off.

Another favorite, is the shop vac. Our new one has a blower. Super. My current project has been power washing the flaking paint off of the Pergola. I'm just finishing that, and now I'll be taking the electric sander to it before I paint.

I love tools! I love to go to the tool section in any hardware store and drool check out what they have. There's always that locked cabinet too where the expensive and cool ones are.

I am presently working on finishing my basement so my cordless DeWalt 18V drill, DeWalt circular saw, Husky hammers and various other tools are all working well as is the cordless electric screwdriver I just bought on sale for $9.99. This screwdriver is great for screwing in the receptacles, switches, and faceplates in no time flat.

I have a plunge router but haven't had much of a chance to use it yet. Life has been so busy with other things. I also have a scroll saw which I have used a bit to do some crafty things. I don't have any sanders yet but will probably be one of my next purchases. One day I hope to have a workshop.

You women should focus on tools like stoves, washing machines, and vacuum cleaners.

LOL @ frozen one. I had mastered all of those by age 13 so I had to move on to new and wonderful areas.

JD... a pergola is a garden feature forming a shaded walk or passageway of pillars that support cross beams and a sturdy open lattice, upon which woody vines are trained. As a type of gazebo, it may also be an extension of a building, as protection for an open terrace or a link between pavilions. Maybe beks can upload a picture of hers for us.

Here's a picture of one type of pergola:

Well I've got a before pic, hoping to have an after pretty soon. The painters quoted us between 600 and 900 bucks to paint it, so I said heck I can do it myself. But 800 bucks sounds pretty cheap this morning We are having a heat wave. 100 degrees yesterday.

Ooohhh what's a plunge router Heaven?? I've not done much of anything with a saw yet, certainly not a power saw. I do have a power staple gun, the staple gun is one of the most useful things I've ever owned. Honey Bunny has threatened to hide it Surely I don't overuse........
