I skipped the "Is Atheism a form of Blind Faith" thread. It seems that this thread was the perfect reply.
Thank you

Wobble said behoove.
In the bible belts, christianity is the norm. People are raised on it, and so have no choice, at least while they are young. They tend to carry on the traditions of their parents. It's a totally normal thing for them.

I believe that while I accepted the Jw version on it I was mentally disordered.
Not saying I was off my rocker - but I would have died rather than take blood, I knocked on total strangers' doors and told them that 7 billion people were going to die unless they read the Watchtower and joined us, I kept my daughter from ever having a birthday, holiday, or getting a regular social life, I spoke to a quiet, unanswering invisible being as if he was in the room, I based major life decisions on the size of cargroups, and proximity to the church I attended...on and on.
Well maybe I was off my rocker after all.
I would restate it though - Does religion create a basis for lifestyle that makes no real sense from a logical perspective? To that I answer yes. And it probably also creates its' share of loonies too - what ideology doesn't?

Is Christianity a form of mental disorder?
Yep, and if we could have them all (not just Christians) locked up, the world would be a much safer place.

So now I'm crazy & should be locked up because I choose to believe in God? Nice. It seems that some haven't grown much since leaving the JWs.

What do you call someone who talks to their imaginary friend every day? And then acts on what they think their imaginary friend would want?

well, imo we all to talk to imaginary friends every day (we'd be robots if we didn't) - so we must all be mentally ill

I had an imaginary boyfriend named Philip.
He was as dark as a Moor; his teeth were as white as snow; he drove a John Deere tractor, and could do 5-place division in his head!
I gave him up when I reached the ripe young age of 16.
