How Broke Are They?

The October KM announces that, starting this year, there will be no Theocratic School Schedules as an insert in the KM. Weekly TMS parts will be printed as part of the monthly KM. This follows the experiment of dumping a pile of magazines at the Kingdom Hall and catch-as-catch can. No individual orders.

Sounds like a continuance of "cost containment"

I don't think that a few million pieces of paper inserted will really cost them much money, but any savings is any savings.
I think the bigger point is that they want everyone to rely on that KM every week, which forces them to look at it every week. Many members would simply study for the first meeting from their insert schedule and actually not look at the KM for the Service Mtg. stuff. Now the 3 meetings in one are on there (TMS, CBS, Serv.Mtg.)

Broke enough to produce a new leaflet available from the congregation secretary outlining ways to donate to the society.

Announced at the meeting this week.

Bloody hell MM it was announced at our hall 3 weeks ago. The UK must get the brighter light before the USA.

Having read some wild speculations, they might consider radical changes in the meetings sometime in 2010. While I don't think it will be as radical as all that, perhaps it will seem radical to JW's. If radical changes are to take place, they don't want some schedule from October 2009 to be wrong, and they might not want to tip their hand yet by posting their changes. I would imagine any big changes would take place in Sept. but these guys like to keep things seeming exciting by repackaging their meetings in different ways- shorter book study merged into midweek meeting, shorter public talk. Perhaps there's going to be a huge change in January. Who knows? (If you do know, tell us.)

Next they will be sending out sheet of printed material that the elders have to subdivide with a paper cutter so that one paper goes to for different baptized publishers . It's a bitch being broke so it may come down to it who knows? Those penny pinching bastards at bethel must be flipping their lids over how to cut costs about now.

Sounds more like an attempt to control the "brothers" who produce a year's worth of TMS material and then post it on the internet. There are likely dozens in each congregation who have a "book" of such information printed each year - it saves them time in "personal study".

Nothing irks the WT like people downloading their material from the internet in an "unapproved" way.
