    God's sovereignty toward our
globe began to be asserted anew with the installation
of Jesus Christ as heavenly King in
the year 1914. Just think of how Kingdom
rule will soon fulfill the hopes of obedient
    mankind.

    How did the true
knowledge become abundant in the time of
the end? Consider some historical developments
in the decades prior to 1914, the year
when the time of the end began.

The foretold "time of the end" began in
    1914.

    Howdid mankind's true hope become
    clearer as 1914 approached?

By the end of 1914, over
9,000,000 people on three continents had
seen the "Photo-Drama of Creation"„-a program
    including motion pictures and slides
    that explained Christ's Millennial Reign.
From 1918 until 1925, the talk "Millions
Now Living Will Never Die," which explained
the hope of everlasting life on earth,
was presented by Jehovah's servants in over
    30 languages worldwide.

That is from one KoolAid edition mag.

It doesn't sound like they are doing away with 1914 yet.

    Cheers

    Chris

It's a mixed picture isn't it? I guess no-one can be certain in which direction the Society will move, especially as 2014 gets ever nearer. Seems to me that there's plenty of indecision at the top levels - oh what fun!

The SDAs have retained 1844 as the date of the beginning of investigative judgment- still retained today I beleive. The Wt would probably keep it...but as a foregone conculsion...not jumping into it in any depth. Although, when the older generation dies out do they need the temple inspection and appointment? Most JWs beleive it is the truth by rote. When pressed, they are the truth because they are correct on:

    trinity/hellfire/immortality of the soul/politically neutral/etc....not because of a 1919 appointment.

1914 is still alive and well. This past Sunday's WT Study, based on the August 15, 2009 WT says this:

Page 4, Par. 10 - Jehovah sometimes gives a message to an individual that also has broader application for mankind in general. This can be seen from Daniel's prophecy involving Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar's dream about the chopping down of an immense tree. (Dan. 4:10:27) While that dream had a fulfillment in connection with Nebuchadnezzar, it pointed to something far greater. It indicated that divine sovereignty toward the earth expressed by a kingdom in the line of King David would be manifested again after a period of 2,520 years, beginning in 607 B.C.E. God's sovereignty toward our globe began to be asserted anew with the installation of Jesus Christ as heavenly King in the year 1914. Just think of how Kingdom rule will soon fulfill the hopes of obedient mankind!

One bit of news leaked out of the annual meeting, a sister revealed, is that there will be yet another interpretation of the "Generation" in some up-coming study articles. Perhaps this is how they will attempt to keep 1914. After all, if you take away 1914, you take away the 1918-1919 appointment of the faithfull slave.

Oldseeker, that sounds strange that they would again change or even modify it... its been only 2 years or so from the last change.. anyway it would be interesting to hear more about this.

    GOD'S DATES

We see no reason in changing the figures - nor could we change them if we would. They are, we believe, God's dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble.

    The Watchtower July 15, 1894 p. 226

…the full end of the times of the Gentiles, i.e., the full end of their lease of dominion, will be reached in A.D. 1914; and that date will be the farthest limit of the rule of imperfect men.

The Time Is At Hand 1889 p. 76-77.
