Although I attend Meetings to please my wife on occasion I have no link with these people on any level....I was looking at my dogs yesterday thinking what good buddies they are, they don't expect much, food a pat, a walk, throw the ball and play...and give lots of love. Mans best friend indeed! Other than my wife and dogs I'll be damned if I need anyone.
Found myself only "associating" with my dogs as best friends! Is this wierd?

Been there - used to do that.
In my case, I wasn't going to meetings - but was trying to stay away from the JWs - afraid that I might be a 'bad influence' on the JWs.
So - I just did things around the house - and talked to the cats and dogs that we had around.
The one thing that I learned about life - in general - is that the animals do not look at us as Catholic, Baptist - OR Jehovah's Witnesses. They love us for who we are (and yes - for the big bags of cat and dog food we bring home for them).
Animals are great teachers... perhaps better than that 'jesus' fella that they write about in that magic book.

My mom used to say that only your dog and your mother love you unconditionally. Of course she was not up on jw's & shunning at the time, so yeah, only your dog truly loves you? shudder, did I really say that?

My mother always said that she should have had all dogs instead of kids! I always found it rather insulting when she said that. But, I do understand.

Nothing wrong with it. Animals are "honest" and innocent. A lot like children. They enrich your life and they don't understand politics.(My dogs are conservatives but they don't know it.)

Satanus, you have the relationship backwards. You belong to the cat. The relationship will improve when you understand that you exist to provide the cat with food, water, a clean cat box, a warm place to sleep, etc.
