I likes him....but I had no idea that Stevens wrote The First Cut is The Deepest.
I have this vague memory of my older sister having to go through an inquisition by my parents in order to keep her first two record albums: Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens, and a Carol King album.
And thus I heard music for the first time, other than "kingdom songs". Well, not really; but almost.
