It took two credible witnesses to get a pedophile out of the Body of Elders.
In the past, a ruling was made that a "known" pedophile could not serve as an elder.
The ones who already were elders had to have two credible witnesses or they continued to serve.
Basically it was a free pass, warning them not to do it again or they would get removed.Most did not have two credible witnesses come forward, so they remained elders.
Pornography may have replaced rape of little girls and boys for some of them. But most are timebombs.

Quite a few pedofiles are still in the congregation. Thats the reason why I decided not to go back, as one in my congregation was "reproved within the congregation", and no one was warned who it was, ESPECIALLY the police. They just said watch out for your kids.
I have a suspicion its one of the elders I know... But that parts is just heresay and speculation.

He's dead now, finally. The thing is...I'm just one of many he molested - and one of many that have been molested. That's one of the reasons there is so much anger on boards like these. Pedophilia is NOT an auto-DF. The scary thing is - no one knows about it. So you have householders who could be called on by pedophiles, SERVING elders that are pedophiles, etc. etc.
Oh- and he made it back to be an MS before he died. Do I think he quit? not for one nanosecond. Pedophiles do not quit...study after study after study has proven that.

Elders are required to meet quarterly (4x a year) but will meet more often to deal with a problem. Sometimes, they have problems every week. I remember staying after the evening meeting all the time to deal with stuff.
