I think it is misleading for elders to say that mankind are mammals because that is not what J W's teach (well, not exactly)

    Creation Book p 81.82

"Physically, man fits the general definition of a mammal. However, one evolutionist stated: “No more tragic mistake could be made than to consider man ‘merely an animal.’ Man is unique; he differs from all other animals in many properties, such as speech, tradition, culture, and an enormously extended period of growth and parental care.” 28 What sets man apart from all other creatures on earth is his brain."

If the female of the species has mammary glands, then it's a mammal.

"It has been estimated by some that the hundreds of thousands of species of animals today could be reduced to a comparatively few family kinds; the horse kind and the cow kind, to mention but two. The breeding boundaries according to kind established by Jehovah were not and could not be crossed. With this in mind some investigators have said that, had there been as few as 43 kinds of mammals, 74 of birds, and 10 of reptiles in the ark, they could have produced the variety of species known today."

One of their creationist arguments is, "Why don't we see The Missing Link walking around today? Why do we only see distinct species today, if they all came from one thing?"

Knowing they believe Noah's flood took place only a few thousand years ago--not enough time to develop a few mammals into the many different iterations we now have--it seems impossible to reconcile the quote above.

Damn. I'm having flashbacks of actually spewing that out and believing it. How embarrassing.
