I'd agree that Maher is anything but humble, in fact he's a smartass with an agenda, no doubt. His "interview" with his mother said much about that relationship and there's much there between the lines that was all too apparent. Thing is most people admire a smartass; Seinfeld wouldn't have bags of cash if it weren't true. But I have to admit he raises some interesting points about religion, belief and humanity in general that ring true. Whether or not this is his true standpoint is moot; politics are always complicated and I'm not informed enough to judge the guy on it but I enjoyed this piece.
