She sent me an email with a picture of her child enjoying the treats, talking about how much he was enjoying learning about bats in school... so she made him bat-shaped cookies. I sent her this reply:

"I'm glad "Brian" is enjoying school so much! The cookies are cute. Some might think they are a little Halloween-ish but I always bear in mind what Romans 14:5,6 and Colossians 2:16 say."

Did you know that Gingerbread Men also have a pagan origin?

    Colossians 2:16 (New International Version)

16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

    Romans 14:5,6 (New International Version)

5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

Not sure if you wanted to post the scriptures or not...I wasn't sure what they said & I'd like to mark this for later

I deliberately didn't quote them to her so that she would be curious and look them up to see for herself what they say.

But if there are people here who haven't read these verses I think it's great to have them quoted.

The New World Translation version of these verses is just as interesting.

Romans 14:5 Or, say, one person thinks that some days should be set aside as holy and another thinks that each day is pretty much like any other. There are good reasons either way. So, each person is free to follow the convictions of conscience.

6 What's important in all this is that if you keep a holy day, keep it for God's sake; if you eat meat, eat it to the glory of God and thank God for prime rib; if you're a vegetarian, eat vegetables to the glory of God and thank God for broccoli. MSG

    LOL.

    Amen.

Woopsie Poopsie...I was going to delete it but I made the post 33 minutes ago. Drat!...missed it by 3 minutes

Well, since I'm on a roll, I might as well post the New World Translation too, lol:

    (Romans

14:5-6) One [man] judges one day as above another; another [man] judges one day as all others; let each [man] be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day observes it to Jehovah. Also, he who eats, eats to Jehovah, for he gives thanks to God; and he who does not eat does not eat to Jehovah, and yet gives thanks to God

Colossians 2:16: Therefore let no man judge YOU in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of the Sabbath

Every time I make bat cookies, the bones never bake all the way through and the fur tends to singe.....ask her what her secret is.
