Welcome to the board. I'm wondering if your congregation was in the city or a rural area. Also, was it in the US? I attended two congregations long term, and the rural one had people that really did for each other, but that wasn't the case in the city.

Happyguy, thank you for standing up to those creeps. Thanks for helping that sister have a place to live. I really do think there is karma.

I have been told also that the kingdom hall is not a place for socialzing- it is only to worship Jehovah.

    They have cold, cold hearts.

Yeah...dont bother with needy people "there will always be the poor among you". Thank you for standing up to them You showed the strength of character and love that is sadly TOTALLY LACKING in that cult.

Way to go, Happyguy! It took a lot of heart to say that in front of the congregation. I'm reminded of Mattew 21:12-13.

    Welcome.

I can't remember where in the Bible it says this, but doesn't it say that true religion is the one that looks after orphans and widows in their distress? Too bad you didn't quote the scripture when you stood up at the meeting!

I'll bet the congregation coughed up all the money eventually.....

So wonderful that you helped the poor woman have a house.

I remember pleas from the podium by all the elders and others for assistance in grocery shopping for two elderly sisters in my KH. My elder father was the only one to help.

We all get the junk mail to give to this charity and that one. We can't give to all although we wish we could. Those who do not wish to give, those with no charity in their heart make the best JWs.
