Good advice so far. My sister went through a terrible teen phase. I tend to think it was something she just grew out of. However, there were some real-life bad examples that crashed and burned at the time, so she became cautious about doing anything dangerous.
Take an interest in her, find out what she enjoys, is good at, and would like to do in the future. Let her know that she is loved. As you know, it won't work to get "preachy", but if you know any stories to share, such as...
