There is a book that contains letters that Vincent wrote his brother. He was a beautiful person who aspired to be a minister. He bypassed that aspiration and instead he ministered to the poor and downtrodden, including prostitutes. It was a prostitute that he was going to with his ear in a cloth, after the artist he shared a studio with him, abandoned him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dipFMJckZOM&feature=related

This song reminds me of my JW dad, and that I will never have him as a father ever again. I cry when I hear it. The imagery of a father loving his son portrayed in the video is upsetting. My dad ought to feel the love for me that the father in the video does for his son. I miss my daddy, but I'm on my own...

song is mozart's requiem mass.
requiem masses are essentially prayers set to music for funerals. mozart himself didn't actually complete this, he died before it was finished and if i remember right, most everything was taken care of, the lacrymosa jst needed fleshing out, but i always get the mental image of a guy begging god not to take his life and i suspect that's exactly what mozart was going through when he wrote it.
