We have heard of the saying “You lie so much you believe yourself". Well, I think that that’s the case with the GB as a whole, even if each of them as individuals doesn’t believe in certain JW doctrines. They feel obligated to support the false teachings and erroneous interpretations for their own protection, personal security and stability. As long as they see artificial “growth” and the R&F following along, they’ll continue believing that some how they are right.
Your Opinion Please: Do GB members believe what they say?

I think most of them are True Believers.
I think some of them are along for the ride.

I believe that 50% might not believe some of their current dogmas, but they need like, a 2/3 vote to change a teaching. It would be nice, if they informed the JW's that say, only 50% supported current rules on blood transfusions, the other 50% wanted to water down or eliminate all rules on blood. That is what the JW's get for following a corporation that has closed board meetings and secret votes.

Most of the doctrine comes from their own personal beliefs and not from the scriptures. I'm sure some of them believe themselves 100% and think that their own thinking is correct and the flock should follow. I'm not convinced that all of the GB agree, but just feel that have to agree with the majority.

Thanks for those opinions!
A follow-up question: Do each / all of the GB members receive instructions (revelations / prophecies) from the inivisible Jesus?

I think the GB consists of believers--as the OP put it--in the "core religion." I take the term "core religion" to mean things like no Trinity, no hellfire, paradise earth, and the faithful and discreet slave doctrine (which is the most important JW doctrine). Under that standard, I think the GB consists of true believers.
But they don't believe that every current doctrine/prophecy is correct...I daresay that most JWs fall into that category.

But gradually, under their persistent "keeping everything stirred up," and claiming special knowledge, [Clayton] Woodworth and Fred Franz began to convince others [of the scriptural prohibition against any use of blood], starting with Knorr, who had little interest in Scripture.
I [Informant # 1] was told by one former member of the headquarters staff, that a member of the Governing Body said the leadership would like to make blood transfusions an individual option. Now that the chief "oracle" is dead and there is a desire on the part of some of the leadership to abandon this unpopular edict, they should lay the error of death and suffering due to this non-scriptural restriction of the past, at the feet of Clayton Woodworth and Fred Franz, precisely where it belongs.

Nope, not one word of it. In Ray Franze book COC, he said that they said that once this teaching that they voted on leaves the 6th floor, it becomes law or the word of God.

Good question. Yes and know. I DO think their position has gotten to their head and they started to believe in their own hype.
