PS - technically, 90's camaro is a compact (comething over 190 inches, subcompact typically like 165 inches max).

My insurance classifies it as a sub compact.

You all are missing the point of the car. I couldn't give a rat's ass if it needs paint or a little work. It would just be cheap and fun--perfect. Mileage doesn't scare me. Like I said, my 94 v-6 will do 120 (governor kicks in), and it has 199,000 miles on it. 350 Chevy's will easily go 300,000 miles with no major problems.

If you can afford more, get an '05-09 Mustang GT (300 hp). You can pick up a used that is modded like you wouldn't believe.

I'm all about bang for the buck. Even if I could afford one, I would not spend that kind of money on a car. Cars should be bought cheap, run hard, and easily retired.

They make great race cars. A co-worker has one just like that with Nitrous and the whole works. Its really fast. Tough to work on but when they're right its alot of fun.

Cars that are sold quite a bit under normal value are suspicious, another thing that worthy of noting is most of those type of cars have been owned by young guys

who most likely drove it hard and probably didn't have the extra cash to keep them well maintained.

The opposite being of course a little old lady who owned a 4 door Toyota Corolla for ten years, if you get my point.

I personally wouldn't buy a car like that unless I knew well who the owner was and how well that person maintained it, complete with receipts.

Yes your going to pay more for it most likely, but its better insurance your not getting a clunker with a huge repair bills after its purchased.

It's an acution homer. Cars do not always bring market value at auctions. Sometimes they bring more.

About being owned by young guys, that's true sometimes. But a lot of owners of these cars take pride in them and maintain them well. But all of that doesn't matter when you're paying the equivalent of 3 new car payments for the whole car.

Repair bills? Any man worth his salt should be able to easily handle 80% of repairs in the driveway. If you can't, you're not a real man.

As I've said, I've had great luck buing vehicles off of ebay. As with any other sales medium, you've got to pay attention and know what you're looking at. If you're going to get ripped off on ebay, you're probably going to get ripped off in person too.

Those F bodies are sweet. I had the Pontiac version. Loved being low to the ground. And man, you can't beat a 350.

JD, I have owned a lot of sports cars and who ever told you about 2005 mustangs...there are huge problems up through the 2009 models.

they've got leak problems.....been there done that, worn the stinken t-shirt. The leak runs through major electric areas and it will destroy the tail lights, and wipers at the same time. No one could figure it out, finally found out how to do it myself....

Got it fixed, had the carpet replaced twice.....but I am not a happy camper. I've got a 2005 GT with leather seats, the best radio and crazy tires....with 40k.....you know the old lady goes to the grocery store type.

Other than that it's crazy fun to drive.

For real fun, find a 3rd gen F-body. Toss the Mouse and put in a Rat (502 Ramjet maybe) and a strong 700R4. Toss the 10 bolt for a Ford 9 inch with 4.55 gears. Put it together and treat new Mustangs, Challengers, and Camaros like your bitch.

Also, get ready to pay tickets.

Nothing wrong with buying vehicles on ebay - they have inbuilt safeguards and you can use secure Paypal. My husband bought a dumptruck and his new 'baby' Harley motorcycle on ebay - no problems whatsoever. Camaro is my dream car, though now I have a cute little 'indigo blue' Cavalier Z24. I had an '83 Berlinetta - pearly lt.blue with all the extras - gold trim inside and gold-accented rims - it was a real beauty and I wish I still had her - I loved that unique one-of-a-kind car! Now if I was a guy I'd know about the engine hp and all that, but I don't remember - just that she had all the get-up-and-go I needed and then some - I seem to remember it had a four-barrel carburator... ypou could hear it open up when you mashed the gas... ah, memories, lol!

I'm gettin' old - I used to know every car that passed on the road by the grill and headlights - now I have no idea unless it's an older more distiguishable model. Things change... but there was never a more beautiful car come down the assembly line than the Chevy Camaro - imho, lol. Has anyone seen the 'new' Camaro? I have only seen the ads - curious to see one - and touch it - and probably tear-up a little... because I'll never own another new car. The Cav was new on the lot and we gave an exorbitant amount of money for it, considering my husband bought his house for half as much... but it wasn't much of a house either, lol! I'll drive that baby till she dies a natural death, sparkin' and smokin!

I'm all about bang for the buck. Even if I could afford one, I would not spend that kind of money on a car. Cars should be bought cheap, run hard, and easily retired.

    Yup.
