RESURRECTION!!!
Syl
Hey, Syl!
Guess lurkers are still reading - over 100 hits since yesterday!
Roderick Usher instills within me with a dispirited, bloodless passion that touches rouge these cheeks e'er wan ...
Whatever.
Thanks!
CC
Whenever I hear of him, I always think of the Irish prelate, Dr. James Ussher, who dated the creation of Man, and who was snidely dismissed by Frederick Franz in the Life Everlasting book.

Give Me Back My Laptop!
She began to whine after I'd only been on for an hour. I ignored her until she plopped right down next to me and tried to read what I was typing.
I put her to folding laundry. She was finished in record time. Next, take a shower and put away the leftovers. Again, timely and efficiently.
Sigh.
WHATEVER am I to do with that girl?
Help!!!
Syl
Here's hoping, Sylvia, that you can get your own!
Or do more laundry and keep that blister occupied. Who's the boss?
I remember Ussher; I wonder who's now more the remembered - Franz or Ussher?
Edit:

Still, whatever ... The above meant to be ironical.
Thanks!

Soon, CoCo, very soon ...

ROFL. As my estranged hubby would say, "I tink I am."
I remember Ussher; I wonder who's now more the remembered - Franz or Ussher?
Both seem to have faded into obscurity. Tut tut tut ... such disregard for Acts 1:7. He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority." NIV

A couplet?
Syl
Good morning, Sylvia!
I'm newly arisen and insufficiently caffeinated to do your question justice re: the couplet. Personally, I am absolutely disinterested in rhyme and meter and technique, though I really should study it. My free-spiritedness does not readily allow my being tied to any convention or specific literary devices. So much artistically is denied me due to an unwilling and hated stubborness in this matter. Sigh ...
Insofar as Poe's The Raven is concerned, it is, so I gather, a masterpiece of poetical technique, though certain cognoscenti critique its "perfection" as formulaic. If you Google the poem, you'll find a great deal written on how Poe "put it together."
I'm a little more awake now but not enough to ...
cognoscenti
LOL.
That poem is so filled with symbolism!
Plutonian Shore, Balm of Gilead, Aidenn.
Jeremiah 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? KJV
It must have taken Poe quite a while to put it together!
I'd almost forgotten just how fascinating it really is.
Syl
Thanks, Syl, for those tidbits!
I'm working on a PM to you. May take a little while ...
