I think God, in all his forms, has been the EXCUSE for many atrocites, though I don't recall God ever being the REASON for them.
Sure, many people ( past and present) like to say that what they are doing is the will of God/Christ/Allah/The mighty carrot king, but lets be truthful here, we know that things done by people to one another has always had an ulteriour motive, be it Land, Money, politics, etc.
I know the word of God has been perverted over and over since the very beginning, but those of us that truly believe in God Word do NOT condone violence at all, sure we may participate in it, when we have no other choice, sure we may have to take up arms to confront evil, but we are very imperfect beings.
Wish that we could all be Ghandis...
