If the FBI forensically analyzed your computer would they find incriminatory searches on the net?

If your PC was searched by the FBI, would they find any searches that could used to implicate you in any crime? Even if the search was innocent, could they twist your internet search to be worse then it really was?

I will start off since I asked the question. How to 'extract thc from plant material to make hash oil'. Not saying I did it, but I did search it and read about it.

If your house was raided and they found significant amounts of hash oil within a week or so of your searching for it...it is somewhat damning.

I get what you're saying though. I'm not sold on Internet searches as "proof" of a crime. But in the publicized case that we're all talking about, it's just one of many pieces to the puzzle that the investigators and prosecutors were trying to put together.

I've said it before...I wasn't a juror, or an investigator or a prosecutor or a defense attorney. With the amount of "evidence" that's been presented to me, I can't make a call on it one way or the other. But in the eyes of the law, since the jury found him guilty, he's guilty...at least until some new evidence can be presented in his appeals.

The question is not to expose anyone, in fact, you can just answer the question with a simple 'yes' or 'no'

I have no idea. I wonder about it sometimes tho b/c I do searches on stuff like jihad, etc and I get a listserv type email every day for an international relations forum I belong too...it's all school-related but sometimes I wonder if just doing the research red flags me somehow.

They wouldn't be able to implicate me in a crime, but they could begin to wonder why I read and research terrorism and their tactics so much. My college homework could get me put on a list.

    Georgiegirl,

What's your major? Mine is administration of justice with a concentration in Homeland Security. I even had to read a translated copy on the HLS's website of the al. q. how to booklet for a class assignment.

I too have also read some news web-sites from the middle-east just to see how they spin terrorist attacks & policies of Iran. No google searches however.

I don't think so, but then you never know I mean I do a lot of googling to find info and i have been to thousands of different sites which I don't think is any kind of crime. I was kicked out of a house with my girlfriend who was squatting on the property and only had a short time to get my things together so I left my PC which I didn't think anything about at the time. We had to wait 15 days to come back and get the rest of our things. At which time I was informed the sheriff's department had my PC and my gf's PC along with some of my porno videos(lesbian girls on girl stuff nothing to my knowledge as against the law) and I was informed that i had to go to the Sheriff's department to get them back, they weren't worth very much and I was leaving the state so I just let them keep them. Who knows what kind of bull shit they were up to and I wasn't about to find out. I had brought some marijuana growing equipment I left behind along a lot of machinist tools which they didn't take. I guess it is sort of standard procedure to grab PC and look for shit these days anyway maybe they could find something like maybe Ayahuasca information and formulas along with Research Chemicals suppliers web sites saved to my favorites on it which to my knowledge is not against the law, as it is just information. My reasoning was that even if they thought they did have a case i'm sure it wouldn't be worth it for them to hunt me down out of state so I just let them keep it. My GF still wants to go back and get her stuff me I'm 3000 miles away and as far I'm concerned they can keep it for what it is worth.

Of course FBI can analyze your computer with a search warrant. Yes, they can find dirt on you and put a case against you like Kelle Jarka keeps typing many times like how to kill someone, etc.. how long to wait to date someone else after your spouse dies, etc.... It shows what was he thinking when he googled like that. Scary? Yes it is. He is guilty as HELL.
