    Pistoff,

You are absolutely right about the brother with a business who said "I can't afford to hire a college graduate". I am ALSO of the opinion that the religion wants uneducated, needy people there so they can work for slave wages for some brother (elder) with a business. Some of the 'friends' are practically putting themselves in a condition of indentured servitude if they accept a position like this. But some of them are so needy because they followed the dictates of the religion that they are stuck. The religion loves this.

This is one of several reasons that they discourage college education for their followers. One other reason is: and I am quoting an elder who said this to me - because "brothers with a college education have a hard time accepting counsel". So, the religion will condemn people to poverty just so that THEY can have an easier time browbeating people. I think another reason is just plain old jealousy. They must feel that having a higher education lifts somebody up to some degree. They didn't get one so THEREFORE you shouldn't get one.

Their position is all about control and greed, plain and simple.

When I looked at the title of the article, I knew it was going to tick me off and I was right.

Thanks Blondie for your insight. I remember when I was young where ones commented how they thought the end would have came before their children grew up. They sacrificed much to the WTS. Sadly many of those who made such comments have passed away. Luckily I did not become a JW until I had some college education. In reality it was the college education that provided me with the jobs I have had and not divine education.

My wife told me that the conductor said that the Watchtower and Awake provides one with an equivalent of 7 years of college. I wonder how far that would go on a resume.

However, the modern-day works that Jehovah is accomplishing in connection with the sanctification of his name

will no doubt be preserved in a permanent record as part of theocratic history.

But then, the only people who will look into their past record will be apostates. LOL

I'm a manager in an IT department and a resume with that on it would get file 13 at warp speed.
