Someone is yanking your chain... Laser printers do not have print heads.
Is this the printer you're talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-HL-1435-Laser-Printer/dp/B0000AMSPI
My daughter was here trying to fix it.
my printer will test the test page but all other printing is so light I cant read it.
She has gone home now but will be back to try & fix it later I sent it on to her ( your answer)
I am to old & stupid to fix it
Yes my printer is HL 1435
Hi Mouthy,
--Sounds like a Brother model #
You should have gotten a CD with the printer with drivers and utility software.
With Brother products this software usually installs under a program group with the the same name as the printer model:
e.g. Start --> All Programs --> Brother HL1435
Grace,
Here is the user guide, you should have had a CD with it!

If the test page looks correct then there is probably a problem with the application you are printing from. Are you using MS Word or something else like that?
Also, if you have anything setup on your computer that is supposed to save toner and extend the live of the cartridge, you might want to turn that off because it works by reducing how dark the text is.
Another test to do is open the Notepad program and try to print from that. Let me know if the print is dark or faded.
Thank you all my dear friends I will see she reads all this when she tries again.
Your a good lot for helping (((HUG)
Hi Grace,
Since the test page prints OK, probably there is no problem with the printer.
The problem may be with the document you are trying to print. Is it in color, or is it black and white?
If it is in color, the printer is probbly printing it in shades of gray, so it looks faded.
In the PREFERENCES listing for my HP printer, I have an option that says "print all text as black" if you have a selection like that in the PREFERENCES listing for your printer, click on the box to select it.
To get to the PREFERENCES listing select File-Print. When the printer window opens, look near the upper right hand side of the window for PREFERENCES. Click that box and it will open a new window of choices. The PRINT ALL TEXT AS BLACK option should be in there.
I hope this is helpful.
By the way, I've got your bucket and I'm not giving it back.
