Anyone who gives public talks or talks at assemblies/conventions can count that time on their slip; but this is not field service but it will keep them out of the inactive group.

*** km 9/92 p. 7 Announcements ***On pages 103-4 of Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry, direction is given as to what may be included in reporting hours of field service. Some have wondered whether a publisher who interprets for a speaker giving a public talk may count the time. Yes, both speaker and interpreter may include in their field service reports the time thus spent.

I personally saw Lyman Swingle doing street work in Brooklyn Heights on many occasions.

Lyman Swingle was a good man. He knew what it was all about, and he tried to live accordingly, too. To be missed.

I recall Ray Franz mentioning in COC that field service was not considered necessary for the majority of the GB. The rationale was that they had so many important theocratic responsibilities that it was not a good use of their time...does anyone else recall that?

Yup. I was gonna post the same thing.

So, let me see if I understand this correctly.

The top men tell us over and over again to the point of nauseum that if we are not "faithful" in field service we won't survive Argmageddon and if we don't have an aeverage number of hours above the publisher average then the elders will view us as weak, which means the whole congregation wil view us as weak because of the elder wife gossip mill. BUT, these same top men do not go in field service themselves???

    SAY WHAT?

C'mon, after all it is a dangerous mind-control cult.

    OnTheWayOut,

I am certain that 99.99% of the R&F do not know that the top men do not go in service and would likely have a very different opinion of service if they did know.

Hmmm, now the question is how to tell them from a source they will believe?
