I agree with happy guy...... good morals, not smoking crack, not being a criminal or a whore etc. etc. has nothing to do with being part of the org. My MIL once said to me when I was leaving...."but the Organization changes people..." to which I replied at the time......"No, its the Bible that does that".

But there are so many people the world over who are just normal, decent, law abiding folks who actually have great humanity about them. There are so many people who do great work for charity or who are well known in their neighbourhood for their good deeds and helping others........ but are they all part of some religion? Do they all believe in God even? Is it possible to be a good guy without a belief in God? Doesnt that mean that all the prisons should be full of atheists? But are they? No! Athiests are good guys too.

JWs like to believe they are better than everyone else, which is why they are so haughty and judgemental. They are taught to think like this by their leaders. But their leaders are some of the most immoral people on the planet and should be shown up for the crimals they are. They have murdered people in their thousands through their teachings.....(eg) blood policy and transplant teaching. They allow children to be abused....by not protecting them.....and allowing paedophiles to roam free within the org. because of the heinous rule of having two witnesses to their crimes.

So please dont think that you turned out the way you have because of this org. Maybe you're just like that as a person in the first place ,and living your life without the org. may not have made a blind bit of difference to how you turned out.

UMMM....I got a head start on public speaking from the Theocratic Min School:-) I am also really good at not getting bored when I have to sit long periods of time with nothing to do. CONDITIONING

Acolytes' original post gives a lot of good things that have happened as a result of leaving the Witnesses, not staying in. The money and property were set up before joining. He evidently did not obey all their rules and has come out mentally unscathed.

Many of us met our partners within it. Who knows who we may have met otherwise?

Contrast his position with that of the hard up faithful dub who carries on, and on etc...Or the many who come out with emotional scars..

No , there is nothing gained that may not be gained in what they call "false religion" and there are too many negatives...The only happy ones are the "sheep" who never question and die still looking for the reward. They never find out that it is all a big lie...

I found a great quote on why the WTBTS organization and its victims (JWs) are so spiritually bankrupt.

Spiritually, the whole system is utterly bankrupt. One will read through the whole flood of literature published by this Russell-Rutherford organization without finding any inculcation of the basic Christian virtues of humility, of repentance of sin, or of charity. No genuine love of God or of one's neighbor finds expression there. There is no emphasis on character-building, on self-conquest, on the necessity of taking up one's cross and following Christ Our Lord. The supreme message of this caricature of Christianity is

Read, believe, and sell Russell's and Rutherford's books, speak of God as "Jehovah" and of all Churches and Governments as "Antichrist"—this do, and thou shalt be saved!

yeah, I forgot about the TMS. I also overcame my fear of public speaking by speaking in the TMS.

Also, I'm not saying that I learned self-discipline and morality ONLY because the WTS exists, I'm saying that is where I learned these things. I might have done the same thing in some other religion, but it was being a JW that put me on a much higher road in my life. No point denying it just because of all of the other garbage involved with being a JW.

    HappyGuy:

    Are you insane?

Oh, this post makes me very angry.

Those bastards made my life very hard for no reason.

I did not have a childhood.

My father was opposed and I spent all my time with busy work "putting Jehovah first" and ZERO time with my father.

I LOVE learning and did not get an education.

I spent 22 years of my life feeling like I couldn't enjoy anything, believing that all non JWs are "wicked".

Oh hell with it, this list is really long and I don't want to relive this shit any more.

I HATE the WTBTS and JWs and wish I had never heard of the mother fuckers.

I wasn't sure if that was you or me writing that :) I feel exaclty the same except for 22 years I would say 19 from the day of baptism to the day I gave them my DA letter. I curse the day I learned about them.
