CoCo, this interests me, what was the context around this comment:
'I'm not saying Brother So-and-So is an apostate, but he sure sounds like one ... I don't understand anything he's talking about.' [reference to Bro. S-a-S's higher learning] The DO said the brother was his friend and that he loved him.

Did they also remind the members to shut off their brains, believe only what they read in WT literature, sell more magazines, donate more money, recruit their own families better, give up all hope, die miserably after waiting all their life for the end any moment, will their worldly goods to WTS?

    Thanks for the report.

I've heard local elders and occasionally the CO or DO to name specific movies or music, but nothing from the jerks in the NY dorms directly

This isn't really all too surpassing since the at one time they demoed the actual use of computers.

But look who has their own web site up and running and are now supplying literature on line to download.

Power in the hands of stupidity.

Now I don't have to actually waste the two days by going. What they are saying is that anything that might provide any fun is either a waste of time you should be using for field circus, or a possible way to find out the real truth about the witlesses. Either of which is bad for them.

Which I think will lead to localized bans on those networking sites. They will allow the hounders to have accounts on those sites, solely to try and fish out the congregation members that have accounts there. Anyone found on one of those sites is in for a trip to the back room, possibly to be hounded (and, if they have any apostate postings, the hounders will have printouts of such postings to confront them with at their judicial hearings).

This is where I posted my notes from that assembly that I went to earlier in the year to please my husband. I figured I was either gonna sit there and try to stab my eyes out with a teaspoon, or pretend to pay attention, so took notes to show you all how wacked they are. Puke.

    Thanks, Crazyblonde/ Marni Mai,

I have gone back and read your notes, I cannot understand why you are not in the Looney bin having to sit through that stuff, but well done.

No mention of Facebook or anything in your notes, unless I missed it (I only speed read them,I can't dwell on crap like that)

No mention either of what spirituality really is, it is defined by them as working hard for the publishing organization,so as to keep its coffers full.

Are not individual D.O's and C.O's in danger of legal action by say, Facebook if they try to stop people using it ? I do hope so.

The WTS is trying it's hardest to stuff the genie back in the bottle. It knows the simple truth that information is power. It would be interesting to compare statistics on DFs, DAs and faders over recent years to see if the rise of the internet has equated to a greater number of people leaving the organisation.

I think that as others have stated truth can not be tarnished by access to information. It is only deceit that needs to fear exposure to scrutiny.

I personally would have more respect for the organisation if they were truthful about the past, apologised for some of the horrendous mistakes they made in places like Malawi and if they made it clear that this was an organisation with zero tolerance of abuse and that child abusers had no place to hide. This I know is a vain hope. I would go to a 2 day assembly where they discussed the following:

History of the organisation - What really happened (perhaps cite examples like Moses, David and Jonah who also displayed weakness but were forgiven)

Mistakes the organisation truly regrets (Malawi, Mexico, DFsetc. ) Contrast Sauls arrogant attitude when he did wrong with David who showed true repentance)

Prophecy what we actually said how we got it wrong. Will do better.

Celebrations why it is actually ok to participate must include Pinatas.

Back to basics - think for yourselves brothers and sisters you have a conscience use it.

and finally no more door to door we're going to ask if the stones could cry out for a bit as promised.

Look forward to see if any of my suggestions are included in the next round.

Nugget missed this assembly she stayed at home reading Crisis of Conscience, whilst I went with her bible study. The best sacrifice of my life.

The last D.A. I was at (last year) they really pushed for NO Facebook/MySpace/social websites/chatrooms. The reason being that they told everyone that (1) too much time is wasted on those sites when JWs could be studying (2) JWs could end up having unnecessary association with 'worldly' people and form friendships/relationships and (3) pornographic material could be sent/viewed on those sites.

Being OUT now, I realize just how controlling the org is...I mean, telling people NOT to use the internet, to TIME how long they use it (be watchful), immediately click off 'questionable' sites, etc.
