They were definitely inaccuracies. Nothing epic but minor issues ( I can't remeber exactly what it was).

I wish it was not the case but It happened

Didn't mean to de track from what you and Jeff are saying.

I agree completely, if you can't keep your facts straight, stick only to topics that you are comfortible with. Otherwise your harming the cause.

I tend to screw up little facts and details, so i don't bother with trying to disprove 607 as the fall of jerulelum or any stuff like that.

I stick with logic (simple logic)

jw, (tells me that something I am doing is wrong.)

me, I have to do what my conscience tells me is right.

jw, well your conscience is wrong, satan has control of you and is tricking your mind.

me, if satan has control of me, and is tricking me, that means that satan could also be controlling and tricking you.

jw, no, he's not tricking me, I know I am right because (insert whatever excuse here).

me, but that's the point, you wouldn't know that, you would be fooled, just like you claim he is fooling me!

I recommend keeping the focus on the JWs leaders. It's like keeping the focus
on Popoff's transmitter. He's victimizing the followers, so why would you want
to victimize them, too? The leaders claim to be the only rule makers of a
literal 144,000, which is meant to be defined by a dozen or so distinctive
rules, which they claim are supported by the best evidence and reasoning.

So if they quote from a book, look for the book. They probably quote mine and
add editorial as though a source is supportive that's actually questionable or
    isn't supportive.

If they say, "That's what the opposing view says," see what those people say.
It probably isn't given the most reasonable representation.

If related history or such is important to context, look it up yourself. If
it's bad for their case, they won't tell you.

You don't have to worry that you're being intolerant of the sincere belief of
nice people because it isn't sincere and to perpetrate it in spite of the harm
and death isn't very nice--it's pretty cynical. It's especially bad if anyone
is hurt or killed over it, and for a small group of followers it's already been
thousands. What i have on it is at the next link.

JEFF- Good thread. In exposing JW's I tend to point to what other cults, i.e., Scientologists, Mormons, etc. are involved in and many times it's exactly the same injustices the witnesses are involved in. I have had some success in keeping witnesses at my doorstep for an hour or more by not attacking THEIR cult - but informing them about how offended I am at the practices of OTHER cults . Which may include child abuse tolerance , or in the Scientologists case shunning or isolation discipline given to rebellious members , or their freaky view of psychiatry or professional counseling.

The method is promoted by Steve Hassan to get the witnesses to think about the actual OFFENSES or INJUSTICES committed in other religions/cults in order to be able to make the comparison in their own minds . Perhaps they will think about it AFTER they walk away from the door. I've had some success with this in order to get JW's to think and use their minds. Something they're not accustomed to doing

OOh, yeah, Mr Flipper... Good advice... Reminds me of a tale I heard one time - In a small village (English, Irish, Venezuelan, Martian...) there was a mean mother who beat her children. In the next hut lived a wise old woman. First the wise old woman talked to the mean mother about her behavior, but the mean mother pushed the wise old woman away, shaking her fist at her and berating her interference.

Then the wise old woman took a broom out to her yard and pretended to beat her dog, yelling at the dog the way the mean mother yelled at her kids. The mean mother saw this, became upset at the way the wise old woman was treating her dog, and rushed over to stop her.

The wise old woman said, "You concern yourself that I treat my dog with kindness; how much more should you treat your own children with kindness, too..." [Or something to that effect...]

    Works for me. Zid
