The 1914 generation is back for 2002.

That's right. Some people who were alive in 1914 will still be around to see the Big A according to the 2002 Theocratic Ministry School outline. I downloaded the 4.8 MByte zip file the other day and was looking for references to 1914.

From section number four of the June 17, 2002 entry (page 112):

    -----

What beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses set them apart as different from other religions?

    (8) Last days: They believe that we are living now, since 1914, in the last days of this wicked system of things; that some who saw the events of 1914 will also see the complete destruction of the present wicked world; that lovers of righteousness will survive into a cleansed earth.

    -----

Was this a slip-up? Careless recycling, perhaps? Or, have they come back to the pre-1995 idea that some now in their eighty eighth year (or older) are still going to be around for the Big A?

Weel, I will always be the first to point out the stupidity in NY, but sorry, this is an incorrect reference.

    The SCHEDULE says,

    No. 4: What Beliefs....
    (rs p. 199 par. 2-p. 200 par. 7)
This means that the material stops short of par. 8

If anyone wants a scan of the original, I will be happy to put it up.

So, lets keep looking. The stupidity is there, but this ain't it.

    So it stops at §7...
It is funny: if a JW will present §8 it will not be embarassing for the WTS that they have published the stuff but shame on the publisher for not keeping pace with the Society. But there will be some spiritually mature to set the matter straight by putting the emphasis on personal study.

I have two links for the 2002 TMS outline:

    For US letter format: http://members.dodo.com.au/mshanlon/TMS2002pdf.zip

    For A4 letter format: http://home.iprimus.com.au/mshanlon/TMS2002A4.zip

This is from http://www.purelanguage.net in the study hall/pre-study section. You'll need a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat.

Unbelievable. So stop one paragraph short and the entire meaning of the religion changes.

The 'generation change' WT study in 1995 was what got me thinking. Now it cracks me up that they don't even refer to the 1914 generation during the TMS, which we all know is a meeting about how to brainwash and convert others.

    Interesting, and great catch.
