Why do ex-JWs join Facebook groups or MySpace groups of current JWs?

So many of us work so hard to purge (there's that word again) ourselves of all things JW, I don't get the wanting to join anything that is adverstised as JW in nature.

Many of us can't get away from it 100% because of family or whatever, so we find support and understanding here, but to willing join something like that seems counterproductive...if one wants to truly distance themselves from the influence of the religion and their loopy adherents.

    But that's just me...

It's because the religion grows more cultish and brazen in their misinformation every day. Seriously, have you even READ some of their recent Study Articles? The eat-the-F&DS'-shit propaganda is at an all-time high. More and more JWs or folks connected to them are becoming high-profile criminals, even murderers, and it's getting harder and harder for the WT to insulate folks from reality. My loved ones are still in the grip of this fustercluck. I am not taking my eye off the Org, not for a second.

Look, they're playing an endgame and they know it. I honestly believe the Walkill (or wherever it is they're headed) project will be COMPOUNDS. Seriously. The "residential towers" (expensive compounds) may not have gone up in DUMBO but I doubt they scrapped the idea altogether. Why else would they go ahead with such a move unless they were planning on wrapping things up?

Something tells me they want to stick around for a long, long time...and moving upstate will take a lot of the heat off of them.

How will they be around for more than a decade without either schism or reform? You've seen the numbers. The anointed are almost at 10,000. Most of the GB is under 60 years old. When Jaracz and the last of the old guard are gone, they will completely lose all sense of direction. The "new guys" are nothing but company men. The growth is stagnating, the propaganda more and more blatant, the scandals more and more public, the R&F more and more tired and apathetic. The GB has said - at conventions - "Brothers, we are tired. We want to go home (to heaven)." They won't drop 1914, shunning, the 144K or blood. And 2012? Don't even start with that one.

I give them 5 years TOPS before the dam bursts.

And don't forget more and more "anointed" E-Watcman/Perimeno and even "great crowd" Greg Stafford types coming out of the woodwork...

And you KNOW those 16 out-of-court child abuse settlements are only the beginning.

The Walkill move is one of desperation and possibly the last major move they'll make. Mark my words.

Blondie: Call from COBE in another cong. that started blethering on before I could tell him I was no longer serving. Then he continues to tell me stuff anyway..... Its localized, but involves several states/provinces.
