i know it was over ten years but it occured today that it was the first time i was shocked by the reaction of the the dubs. The general opinion seemed to be that yes it was "sad" ... but actauly it was very good news that she had been killed now, because that meant that she would get a resserection! And of course seeing that she had led such an immoral life, she would never have survived armargeddon had she lived!

I also recall dubs boasting about how they didn't watch the funeral, because that was people worship, instead they went out on the ministry... at the time when everyone... and i mean everyone was watching the funernal at home. There were no cars around at all! Just cold hearted jw's on the prowl...

Wow I can't believe that. I don't recall what happened in my cong. I remember my mum being shocked and sad and to this day she watches everything on TV about Diana. I don't think our cong was that bothered :S

I recall hearing JWs say the same thing.

I was long gone by the time of the Di accident, but I can well remember the reaction to the JFK assasination. Believe it or not, the local CO pretty much pre-empted the service meeting in order to lead prayers because he was sure this was the beginning salvo of Armageddon.

Then, by the weekend Sunday meeting there was even more buzz because Oswald had been shot.

By the NEXT Sunday meeting there was some low level grumbling that Armageddon had not come.

BTW, I just happened to be arriving in London on that Sunday morning to start a business trip - they did not tell us on the plane, so I found out by talking to a couple on the train from Gatwick. The cab guy asked if I cared if he drove around the big circle at the palace, and it was filled with people, nobody saying much - just walking around in shock spreading flowers. Nothing much got done at our offices on Monday morning, either, except just watching the TV for news.

As sick as it seems to normal people this is a nod of endearment and respect for her from JWs. To JWs, all wicked people will die at Armageddon so seeing her have a chance to not suffer death at Armageddon and be in line for resurrection is a twisted way of wishing the best for her.

Yes, I too went in service that day. But I remember coming home and turning the TV on to watch a bit of the funeral and ended up watching it the rest of day. I wasn't a big fan or anything but the whole procession and funeral just amazed me. I couldn't turn away.

Perhaps it might not be out of place here for some who were there at the time to relate how they handled 9/11?

I find it fascinating that the JWs who so claim to be "out of the world" are yet so enthralled with this kind of stuff.

So, according to the JW's she gets into the New System on a technicality.

But if any of us live a good life, help those in need, we are still certain to die a horrible death at Armageddon.

If we prove to be wrong, and there is a WTS Armageddon, (stop laughing, bare with me on this) If you see the Angel of Death headed your way, quickly kill yourself, so you can beat the SOB of his pleasure, and maybe get resurected on the 'Lady Di' technicality clause.

    Just saying.......

"The Lady Di clause"...I like that...

But sorry, no, it won't work. You see committing suicide is not a resurrectable (is that a word?) offense... at least that's what an elder told me when a family member of mine committed suicide and I turned to him for comfort. He just went on and on about how my family member would not be resurrected.

Granted, I don't know what the official WT policy is on that, but among a great many JWs, suicide is an unforgivable sin for some reason.

Our experience on Lady Diana passing......

My little girl (7-8 at the time) was deeply moved by her death. So much so, that when we visited London on holiday, we HAD to go by her former residence (Kensington??) and place flowers on the fence. Plus, a visit to Harrods to see the memorial display. (is the display still there?)

Then when in Paris, we had to go by the scene of the accident.

This was all at the insistance of our little girl who was enamored by Lady Di.
