I find paragraph 20 quite interesting in the Jan 2010 study article

"Prove To Be A Real Follower Of Christ"

    20. As true Christians,we strive to showlove
toward all. In El Salvador, a young publisher
was studying the Bible with an 87-year-old
Catholic woman who clung to her church.
One day, the woman became gravely ill and
    was hospitalized.When she returned home,
theWitnesses called and made sure that she
had food. This went on for about a month.
Nobody from the woman’s church visited.
The result? She discarded her images, resigned
fromher church, and resumed her Bible
study. Yes, Christian love has power! It
can reach hearts in ways that the spoken
    wordmay not.

The WT cite one example of where Christendom has not provided for their own, but this is outweighed by the numerous examples of elderly shut in JWs who never receive a visit or an invitation.

I was laid up many times with knee and back injuries and several surgeries. The JWs never visited me once.

Actually, that's not accurate. One MS visited me once and brought over a big bottle of spiced rum and chips & dip. We got shitfaced while watching spaghetti westerns. Our wives were not pleased, which is half the fun.

Good one outlaw. I was laid up a couple of times. Once some people visited, the second time no one seemed to care (we'd moved congretations by then). To the best of my knowledge no one besides family saw my wife's grandmother in the nursring home before she died.

Of course, they could count their time and rack up a return visit and if they talked for 15 minutes count a bible study.

When my wife had our second we didn't go to the meetings for 3 weeks. In that span, out of 100 people, we had one person visit. And this was when I was an MS and doing quite a bit for the cong. A real eye opener!! It's what finally convinced me that I was definitely in the wrong place.

-Gave her food? Shouldn't they have been inquiring why she was missing the meetings and shouldn't let sickness stop that?
