Where do our Icon/Pictures come from?

Does some admin/owner draw them and add them to our profiles or are they randomly put in if you don't do you own picture?

What I'm incredibly interested to know is what part these pictures play in Endtimes Prophecy. In the 1st chapter of the 3rd book of Flatulence it spoke of a time when "Many multicolored monsters shall appear upon the brilliant squares and shall confound the minds of the faithful"-3 Flatulence 1: 4-7
