Some of mine favorites ever come from The Art of War by Sun Tsu. Though written for warfare no wonder it us used today by top executives, high ranking officers and and of course practitioners or Ninpo :)
Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate.
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
Pretend to be weak/confused in order to make the enemy arrogant or haughty.
(actually these last two are unbelievably powerful, particularly when dealing with westerners, they basically tell you exactly what hidden thoughts of their minds really are about you. Or if in any kind of business "warfare" your oppenents quickly show their real face. Its almost like 1+1=2)
Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win. -
