He would have done it if he could have counted an hour of FS time.....

I get where you're coming from; I grew up a JW too. Spent 46 years "in".

I've seen it all, from the vampires you describe to the families that let their kids run wild and everything in between. All I'm saying is that there are extemists in every walk of life. The trouble with extremist JW's is that their behavior is reinforced by their teachings.

Some of the witlesses are helpful, but that is just so they can create the illusion of being "not that bad". This is to soften the household, often creating an implied debt, so they will take the littera-trash next time the witlesses knock on the door. Very often, the Kingdumb Misery will mention that doing favors to the neighbors is a good way to open the door for them to come into the cancer.

Helping one's neighbor out of need is commendable, but doing it so that one has a foot in the door so to speak so one can place some literature with them is dispicable.

My experience with jdubs when one needs help is that family and I got Zero help from any of them, oh sure they would ask can they help and we would say yes but the help was never forthcoming. Family had helped others whey they were moving or in need but when it came to aiding us and returning it to us when we moved (twice) and were down and out do to accidents and disability, it was the worldy that helped, not one hand ever lifted by anyone from the congregation(s). Unfortunately most follow the exampe of the society not one hand lifted out of pure love to help one's neighbor unless of course it was someone in the cancer but this only when disaster struck. Just ask any PO or elder what procedure is in place in the local congs to help others and you will find that there isn't one, no policy, no procedure unless approved by Bethel which also doesnit have one to help in the day to day needs of those in the cong much less the needy in society as a hole. Unless of course you regard the magazines left so that someway has emergency toilet paper available.
