Why do the Witnesses always stress "Free Home Bible study"?
As if other religions charge for them. I never understood that lol.

Lol yeah that's a good point. They always emphasise the free WT and Awake, but then comes the rote learnt "...the Watchtower is based on a contribution service so any donation you wish to make is fine."

Sure they used to and probably still do say this, but the catch used to be that the literature was not free.
Magazines, books and bibles were all at a set cost.
It was a part of the marketing strategy.
