    I accidentally picked up a Blue Ray video at Target the other day. We put it in the XBox player and wondered why it wouldn't play. I washed the video with soap and water and tried it again. It still didn't work. So, I put it in the DVD player and it didn't play. My daughter then noticed that it was a Blue Ray video. So, today, I sent her to Walmart to get a Blue Ray player; and as many of you said "they don't have the cheaper HDMI cables". The cables that they do have cost about $38 bucks.

    Thanks for bringing up the topic about the cable because I didn't have a clue that we'd need it. My daughter would of been severely pissed if she'd have to go back out to get the cable in this terrible cold, icy, sleety weather.

    Good catch Leavingwt , that not just a bargain thats a steal

    By the way 1 6ft. HDMI cable from Monstercable costs about $40.00 or more.......a true ripoff

    I needed a USB cable and found it for $1.00 at Dollar Tree. Works great.

    Hands down the best place to purchase cables is from a place called monoprice. I don't want to say more on it as I don't want to advertise, but google it and you'll find great deals.

    With HDMI cables, what you really need to pay attention to is the gauge. Cables can have gold plating and all the bells and whistles, but if it is a low gauge, it will show digital artifacts or cut out completely. I have a walmart cable that would lose the signal if I upped it to 720P. I had to keep it on 480P just to get it to work.

    Gauges go from high to low. i.e. 24 gauge is a very thin wire, whereas 14 gauge is very thick. So the lower the gauge the better. That goes for speaker wires too. The problem is most people, including Monster Cable, don't advertise the gauge size. Also, the longer the wire, the lower the gauge should be.

    To give you an idea of how good that website I mentioned is, I paid $20 for a 25' DVI to HDMI cable, which is unheard of. It would have been over $100 from Monster Cable.

    High dollar speaker cables don't affect the sound, only the warm fuzzy feeling in your brain (and your credit card balance). Don't take it from me, listen to prominent skeptic James Randi and engineering guru Bob Pease. Here's a big hint: the wire in the speakers' "cross-over network" is probably as long as the wires going to your amplifier, and skinnier, too.

    Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy their bulk wire. Then use the money you saved to buy better speakers, or several bottles of good wine: either way, you'll be getting more for your money!

    I got a question? Do you still have to hook-up the red, white, and yellow AV cable that comes with the player if you have a HDMI cable? Or is it one or the other? Or both? IDK?

    No.

    A single HDMI cable is for both audio and video. That is part of the beauty of it!
