I recently took the plunge and added a non-personally-identifying photo here on JWN.

I had about 60 seconds of major sphincter-tightening when I realized that with just a tiny bit of mouse-clicking, anyone could see ALL the photos I had uploaded to my newly created photobucket.com account. This included an absolutely unmistakeable photo of myself posing as "Santa Witch" for any lurking JWs to see.
DOH!!
So here's a piece of advice I've learned today, plus a couple others I've heard from Baba Yaga and other posters along the way.
1. When you set up an account with photobucket, your photobucket username is imbedded in the URL for any particular photo you link to. So....
2. It's probably not a great idea to use a complete e-mail address as your photobucket username. (I was savvy enough to not do that myself)
Example: If your e-mail addy is [email protected] and your password is 1914, at a minimum shorten your photobucket username to JohnDoe666 or better, modify it to something you'll remember like JD666, or best, something completely unrelated like SatanLovesMeJah'sGonnaKillMeGueesI'llGoEatSomeWorms.
3. Don't use the same password on photobucket (or any other web sites) as the password on your e-mail account.
4. When you set up your account, make sure to go review the account settings and customize it for the level of privacy you desire. (This is what I failed to do initially and was the cause of the acute, momentary, sphincter shrinkage)
5. Set up a bogus e-mail account for use here on JWN and/or other sites that doesn't include any private information.
OK, if anyone has issue with any of these bits of advice from a self-admitted computer moron, PLEASE blast away.
Also, if you've got any other safe-computing tips, please pile on as well.
Oh yeah, one last thing, I'm curious to see if anyone can get access to the other picture on my photobucket account. You should only be able to access the WannaBeTree. If you're able to find the other photo still on there, I'll give you twenty of these.
