They have rejected most of what Russell taught and quote him out of convenience, I have found that they often quote him out of context and the other times they quote or mention him as to do with witnessing efforts, as if his witness efforts were similiar to that of the Witnesses today.
I would say that the Witnesses are the children of Rutherford, while they have rejected some of his ideas, mushc of what he taught and believed are still taught.

Having the kingdom of god in his hand was just too wanting for Rutherford to resist.
