I think this ties into the thread, thought you might find it interesting....
Bugs/lizards that can walk vertically on any surface or even upside down, particularly Geckos. It was discovered that their feet are covered with hairs so fine that they actually bond with the building blocks (cells) of the surface, and those hairs branch out into millions more.
Fascinating stuff.

Prions were discovered, because they caused disease and death in humans and animals. Viroids, because they damaged human food plants like potatoes, tomatoes and cucumbers. When stuff affects us, then we get interested. I wonder, if there are other, even smaller, wierder bugs out there that we don't know about, because they haven't caught our attention.
