" I heard this exact talk at the last Circuit Assembly I will ever attend. So either whereami's got the circuit's CO now, or this is from higher up. "

The CO used to have a degree of latitude in the "Giving Attention" talk but from a couple of years ago this has changed. He is given an outline & it is very much scripted by the WTBTS , though the CO can make "local application" as required.

The idea of talks on meeting attendance is to get the attendees to hound and guilt the non-attendees with the "counsel" given in these talk to get them back to the hall!

Ah, thank you Dozy. Something told me the process had been homogenized.

One DO had this thing for talking about skirt length and slit up to the thigh... He mentioned it every SAD and CA

and always used the words "coochie momma" and we sisters shouldn't be dressing like a "coochie momma"

because people in our territory might think we were "coochie mommas" coming to their doors. Trouble is after

all his "coochie momma" mentions and the explicit details of women's tight skirts that you could see panty lines

he had all sisters blushing and brothers "squirming" in their seats.

But about empty seats at the KH being bought with Christ's Blood I see absolutely no mention in the Bible

that Christ came on a mission to buy seats at any KH. Actually I thought Christ came to redeem humankind from

its sinful state, and to ransom them from death to life. Seems like the brother giving that talk was stretching his

illustration a bit much. If there are so many empty seats maybe it's because of the horrendous treatment of the

flock by the hired undershepherds who abuse and fleece them at the orders of a Book publishing corporation.

LOL! No wonder his words made all the men hot and bothered...a little stimulating mental picture probably gave them the only interesting thing they'd heard all day!

Hope there wasn't a song straight after this talk SirNose, the brothers may have preferrd to stay sitting until the 'stimulating mental images' had passed!

These talks miss their intended audiences but do have certain results

    1) Make the super righteous feel even more smug.

    2) The ones who miss the occasion meetings for human reasons will feel guilty and conform....

Some people would goto meetings even if they were near dying or had really serious family issues, i.e. parent on verge of death. That made me sick.

Great talk I am sure but not in line with recent doctrinal changes, perhaps CO is an apostate someone should take him aside and councel him. We are BELONGINGS people it is only GB that truly benefit from Ransom sacrifice.

The kingdom hall is the place to go to venerate the GB not Jehovah or Jesus so the chairs have nothing to do with the ransom sacrifice.

Had a spanking talk like this in the elders meeting at our CA. The C.O got on ours backs about better preparation and presentation. When he finally allowed the elders to comment it became evident we disagreed. We felt the 2 main problems, which really needed to be addressed by the G.B., were format and content. Told him the meetings were too long for families today and the material too repetitive and boring. We assured him we would do our part and hoped the G.B. would do theirs. This was all very carefully expressed, mind you, but the message was clear. Didn't hear any more comments about meeting attendance from that C.O.
