  Hiya Bibi, how are you all doing?, I hope things continue to improve. Regarding coming on this site as well particularly this thread and it's original subject Disfellowshipping and the misery that causes it gives me an opportunity I hope to get to those that think there is no life after the Watchtower and are afraid to leave, or worse those having tasted twisted Theology think that if that is what being a Christian means, no thanks!!.

  Doug and I are doing quite a lot Tomorrow, and we hope the live programme will generate some good calls, and we can show that Christianity is a magnificent way of life, not the high pressure works and failure cycle of the Watchtower.

  Anyway thanks for your valued support, and don't forget it is nothing to do with me, The Lord is the provider of all the good things, if I am blessed by him to help, I am really thankfull.

  Hi Podobear. Welcome, its good to have you here with your professional experience of supporting JWs and ex-Jws

  A couple of things you said above resonates very strongly with what I believe

  Tact and persuasion through hard fact, one on one, is SOMETIMES better than full ballistics and devestation. (IMH0).

  The JW's don't have the lion's share of many of the problems Mr Brown lists.

  I don't want to hijack this thread but please share your thoughts if you can, perhaps in a new thread. I would be very interested in knowing more about your views on this.

  just going to make one quick comment;

  Reachout Trust, are not the answer to a lot of what people are searching for after their descent from the WTS, and as some have said it could be seen as "into the frying pan into the fire"

  Welcome, Podobear, are you a sort of pshychiatrist ? if so, you must have a tremendous lot to say about the mental condition of your JW patients. I look forward to reading your experiences. It is unlikely that I ever told you anything at your door because at that time I was learning the job with Brian and we would talk together more in between doors than at doors. He was doing, in his quite genuine manner, all the sermon anyway.

  You are mentioning a few characters from Streatham cong. I remember Bro. Rastall, he wasn't exactly a youth but, or because of it, he reminded the brothers, from the platform, how happy they were, as spring was coming, to see the young sisters in light dresses again... remember also Bro. Mac Callum, and his so much younger wife.

  Still Wondering, I read the post you wrote 6 months back about Brian LOCKING, about his having been removed several times from eldership on account of his musical carreer and hardly attending anymore. It's really heart wrenching because I can imagine Brian's distress right now. I could see when I knew him that he was taking his religion really seriously, gave 40 plus years of his life to what he earnestly considered as a sacred service, living most economically for the sake of it. Fortunately he was surrounded, when in Streatham, by supportive friends. I remember an elderly dignified so-English sister who seemed to look after this confirmed bachelor as if he were her son. And also this couple, Denis the drummer in his JW pub band and his wife (Patricia ?) who both seemed to be very close to him. Dear Brian, so honest.

  Sure, I agree with you synopsis of the faults of the WT. However, remember even the GB are just cogs in a wheel.

  Thank you for the warmth of your greetings Aligot, Cofty and Stillwondering. One of the reasons I have looked in and never signed up to any of these forums, is the deviation that takes place from the thread started.

  I must agree with jookbeard here. It has been my experience that these "Reachout" trusts do little more than stir up old contentions in doctrinal matters. Many former JW's, myself included, are tired of this murky and sinister posturing.

  In recent times I questioned the knowledge of a so-called ex-jw who had formed an Evangelical Reachout Trust in Craven Arms in Shropshire. When I tried to get him to stay on the doctrinal point, I was amazed at his LACK of real knowledge on JW teaching on the matter. His presentations spun off with allegations and false assumptions to the point that it actually reinforced my understanding of the subject as taught in WT literature. (For the record only this was the difference between PAROUSIA and ERKHEMEMNON.. sorry haven't got my Greek lexicon with me.)

  It will be interesting to hear another presentation from those who maintain their need for a "God Slot" but I have yet to see or hear one that doesn't eventually descend into a true Evangelical v Pentecostal Cat Fight. We wait with baited breath.

  Meanwhile my encouragement to all former JW's here would be: Be like the honey bee, extract the good out of all you visit.. and as I said before, try in some way to turn your lemon into lemonaid. That is what brought me back from the brink of despair and suicide.

  For those of us/you who retain a spirituality.. draw close to God and Christ in your personal relationship.. strengthen your OWN conscience before them. Try to channel your Frozen Anger into a power for good. IMHO.
