Hi Sylvia,
Here's the other side of the biblical issue you have touched upon.
John 5:13-14 (English Standard Version)
13 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you."
Many people took offence at Jesus' words, even His own disciples.
Matthew 13:57 (New International Version)
57 And they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor."
Matthew 15:12 (New International Version)
12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?"
John 6:61 (New International Version)
61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you?
Christians are not here to offend, we are here to love but sometimes speaking the truth in love will offend some.
1 John 3:17-18 (New International Version)
17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
Pat has spoken what he believes to be true and his actions show true love.
Blessings,
Stephen
