Such a misguided thought. I am sure the Christians that send these think they are "saving" the Haitians.
Kind of reminds me how the WTS will make sure the Haitian recruiters get back out there recruiting with WT magazines in tow.
Hmmm....I wonder how well these solar-powered bibles work -- 'where-the-sun-don't-shine'? Which is where they will likely be found (stuffed) shortly.
What do they need most now? When a person loses everything, a Bible is not exactly a high priority item. People need food, clothing, and shelter before anything else. If they do not get those things, a Bible is not going to do them a bit of good.
But of course , JWs are always first on the scene , helping their own. Hmmm - maybe not. Wonder whether the following experience will make it into the inevitable Awake article.

Stevenson Belgrade, a 22-year-old auto mechanic with halting but steady English, asked an Associated Press team for water, medicine and latex gloves for 40 families huddled in a Jehovah's Witness hall. Someone had come by in the morning and thrown two bodies on their front door, he explained.
He persisted through several explanations that there were no provisions, only a few latex gloves to offer, never really giving up even as the conversation ended.
"When can I come back for help?" he asked, his voice falling slightly to a whisper. "We are beaten."
