In all, I enjoy numbers and math. As such I can see problems from a mathmatical basis where they exist.
This thought came to me last night.
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good.
So based on this we can make a few assumptions:
1) The bible account picks up with the heavens already made by God (no helpers)
2) First day was to make light, meaning 1 day to create or at least activate a star
3) Days two and three were to add atomosphere and land to a planetary body
4) Days three to six were to terraform a planet to support life
5) Only one planet in the universe supports life
6) Creative day is 1000 earth years.
7) After working for 6 creative days, God has a day off
So, lets have fun!
Our solar system = 1 star, 8 planets (sorry Pluto)
Star = 1 day
8 planets @ 2 days each = 16 days
2 days vacation (sorry, just barely missed qualifying for a third)
18 creative days = 18,000 earth years.
Okay, so 18,000 years old at very least right? Wrong. Look up again and see all the stars. Given what we know our solar system is fairly average all around given star size. Some systems will have more planets, some will have less but let's use our system as a nice template.
At last calculation given star density, the known universe is estimated to have 30-70 sextillion stars (sextillion = 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000)
Again, let's to middle of the road here, we're not trying to sell God short at 30 or over work him at 70 so let's go with a nice 50 sextillion solar systems.
16 creative days per solar system
50 sextillion solar systems
800 sextillion creative days
133 sextillion vacation days
933 sextillion creation days for universe
1000 earth years per creation day
So that will make God a grand total of 9,330,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 earth years old at the creation of life on our planet. Also assuming that he started work from the very moment he blinked into existance.
Understanding that, he had some high hopes for us. It makes total sense that after all that time he was ready for some serious worship and pretty much instantly we use our free will and piss him off.
Seriously, you'd think after all that time he'd have a bit more patience.
