First post. Not DF, so a bit nervous. thought I would check in from lurking. I've read CofC. Very good. If I'd only known about it sooner. Guess others feel the same about hindsight being 20/20. Anyone recommend any other good reading material? Will post more late.

Welcome, Magog. Just keep cool and keep your cover and you'll do just fine and will keep learning what's good for you to do or not do. All or lots of us have some degree of nervousness at first.

Ray Franz's second book is good, In Search of Christian Freedom; as well as Apocolypse Delayed and Gentile Times Revisited.
Just take things slow, take a lot of deep breaths. There are many of us here on the board that are still 'in' or 'around' the org, as well as those that are 'out', so there are many here who can sympathize.
Welcome to the board.
In 1975 a crack team of publishers was sentenced to death by a judicial commiteee. They promptly escaped from the cult and now live life on the run. If you have a problem ... and if you can find them ... maybe you can contact the A--postate Team"

Welcome, Magog!!
Happy to have you.
For reading material, I would recommend Ray's second book In Search of Christian Freedom, Apocalypse Delayed by James Penton and People of the Lie by Scott Peck. We look forward to hearing your thoughts as various topics are discussed. Your opinions are as good as any.

Welcome to the board, Magog.
I'm still "in" trying to fade and remember what it was like the first time I posted. What everyone says is true. Take your time. You know the truth now and there is no power left in the wtbts.
Also, besides what dungbeetle recommended, try Scot Peck's books. And True Believer by Eric Hoffer was good on mass movements.
Don't beat yourself up in what you know now. Just go forward and be at peace with yourself first.
Have fun on the journey and let us know how you are doing.

Magog,
You have already recieved the best advise. Just keep reading. Lay low in the congregation if you still attend. Many of us still do. You will be save if you do not say too much to others locally at this point.
Hope you already have a personal relationship with God at this point. Loss in faith in men does not have to mean loss of faith in God. Ray's second book may also help in this regard.

BTW, I was about where you are one year ago. You will be OK!

Hi Magog,
Congratulations on taking your first steps. Besides the books already mentioned I enjoy the newsletters of Randy Watters and MacGregor Ministries. Along with articles they also have letters from people just searching and/or leaving the WT.

Magog, I second what jst2laws said. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Realize the WT is a system of works/righteousness that even the pharisees couldnt bear (Matt 23:4). Read Galatians chapter 5 and see how desperately Paul is trying to keep people free from legalism. There *is* freedom in Christ! Also, I am currently reading 'In Search of Christian Freedom'. I recommend it, and also 'Reasoning from the scriptures' by Ron Rhodes. If you dont want to buy alot of books just yet, go to freeminds.org and read the free articles there. Great website. Email me if you want to chat. [email protected]
