How would any active dub know that Commentary on James was written by "an apostate?" Unless he was a Bethelite during the late 70s maybe?

just read the introduction of his book, its one of the best lines ever written in WT-history.
If JW really followed this, it would be a much better religion....and maybe this site would not need to exist...
Visiting Bethel in the 1980's a friend, a Bethel Elder told us they were not to use The Commentary of James for research or study. Definately it was an apostate influenced work, to mislead the many.
More food for thought......
Also was told the decline in the work after 1975 was not because of the date, but the work of Apostates in Bethel. JG was holding back his spirit until they were removed.
Yhey are nuts you know. Not the WT Apostates, but the GB.
I loved The commentary on the Letter of James too. It remember studying it in the book study and an elder telling me he was so glad to get through with it. He said it was the most boring book ever studied. I thought he must have missed the point of the book.
I still have the original version as it was the one book I truly enjoyed. It is a shame that they didn't continue down that road with other Bible books. I guess that would make them too "christian".
*** cj p. 7 Introduction to The Letter of James ***
The real Christian will not do things by rote, and he does not need a detailed code of rules. Neither does he carry out his good works just to please men. So if a person has a genuine, living faith, fine works will reasonably follow, including preaching and teaching the good news of the Kingdom. (Matt. 24:14; 28:19, 20) They will be good works that God will reward, because they are performed out of heart devotion. However, one who tries to gain righteousness through a minutely defined structure of “dos” and “don’ts” will fail. Such “righteousness” is of men and not of God.
thanks "mythbuster" thats what i meant.
Also later in the same chapter, it says something about, that preaching is a "spontaneous" event.....not that forced for filling in report at the end of the month thing...
Argh! I just went looking for my copy and I can't find it! I hope it didn't fall victim to one of my wife's anti-packrat purges...
Choosing the Best Way of Life was written by Reinhard Lengtat, not Ed Dunlap
Thanks, Benny. You are right.
I have got to go dig mine up. I think it's in a box somewhere.
I hate to resurrect an old thread but does anyone have this on PDF? I have been looking forever and the only link that i did find is dead.
